May 22, 2012  FHWA / FTA (SR500) FHWA FTA TPCB Transportation Planning Information Exchange  - FHWA and FTA are pleased to announce a new webinar series, the Transportation Planning Information Exchange (known as the "Planning Exchange"). The Planning Exchange is a comprehensive Web-based forum to connect the transportation planning community with timely information on training, technical assistance, and technical support for State, local, regional and Tribal governments; transit operators; and, community leaders. Topics reach beyond traditional transportation planning to address issues like scenario planning, land-use modeling, livability, environmental quality, operations, and maintenance. The webinar series will kick off with an introduction to the Transportation Planning Capacity Building Program resources such as peer exchanges, scenario planning workshops, innovative public involvement strategies, and more! Future webinar topics will be decided by your input.
May 23 - 25, 2012  TRB Making Progress: Transportation Planners and Programmers Turn Ideas into Reality  - TRB is sponsoring a conference on Making Progress: Transportation Planners and Programmers Turn Ideas into Reality on May 23-25, 2012, in Denver, Colorado. The conference will dive into the steps transportation planners and programmers take to turn ideas into reality--from setting long-range visions and plan development to investment decisions and project delivery--and showcase key tools and strategies along the way. Focus areas will include stakeholder outreach, partnerships and collaboration, scenario planning, effective communication, performance measurement, and investment prioritization. The outcome of this conference will be strengthened connections between transportation planners and programmers, the public and transportation professionals, and researchers and practitioners. These connections will be explored for their importance in achieving strategic goals in the areas of mobility, preservation, livability, environment, economic competitiveness, and safety. May 31 - Jun 3, 2012  APTA International Rail Rodeo  - The Rodeo showcases men and women who keep our rail systems moving, the rail rodeo tests operators’ and maintainers’ skills against those of their peer groups. Jun 10 - 13, 2012  International Bridge Conference 29th International Bridge Conference (IBC 2012)  - The International Bridge Conference ® (IBC) is the pre-eminent arena for the bridge industry in North America, Europe and Asia. Sponsored by the Engineers’ Society of Western Pennsylvania, the IBC annually attracts over 1,600 bridge owners and engineers, senior policy makers, government officials, bridge designers, construction executives, and suppliers from throughout the United States and abroad. Jun 12, 2012  TRB TRB Webinar: A Guidebook for Sustainability Performance Measurement for Transportation Agencies  - TRB will conduct a webinar on June 12, 2012, from 2:00 p.m.-3:30 p.m. ET that will explore National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) Report 708: A Guidebook for Sustainability Performance Measurement for Transportation Agencies. Participants must register in advance of the webinar, and there is a fee for non-TRB Sponsor employees. A certificate for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDH) will be provided to attendees who register and attend the webinar as an individual.

Aug 17, 2012  APA Senior Mobility  - As the nation’s aging population continues to grow, communities are grappling with a range of planning issues to accommodate the expanding and diversifying needs of older adults. In study after study, transportation ranks first among the concerns of older adults, their caregivers, and the institutions that support them. This webcast will examine several trends gaining traction with transit and paratransit agencies as well as with governmental agencies that focus on senior needs.
