May 29, 2018  PBIC/FHWA  Improving Crossings with Pedestrian Hybrid Beacons  - The pedestrian hybrid beacon (PHB) is one of several countermeasures available to improve safety for pedestrians at uncontrolled crossing locations. This webinar will present detailed information about the PHB and showcase examples of two cities (Austin, Texas, and Columbus, Ohio) are implementing the PHB to improve pedestrian safety. Following their presentations, panelists will respond to questions from the audience. This webinar supports FHWA's Safe Transportation for Every Pedestrian (STEP) program which promotes countermeasures at uncontrolled pedestrian crossings.  Webinar   
May 30, 2018  TRB  TRB Webinar: Resiliency in Practice: Strategies for Knowledge, Information, and Data  - This webinar will address several components related to the implementation of resiliency strategies for transportation organizations. Presenters will discuss the strategic identification; collection sharing/repurposing; coordination; updating knowledge, information, and data needed for policy; and costs, risks, performance, and other forms of analysis that support resiliency efforts. They will illustrate the types of evidence needed to build business cases and render decisions in the public sector, describe the current state of the practice, and discuss practical examples that utilized these practices.

Jun 5, 2018  TRB  TRB Webinar: Tools for a Sustainable Transit Agency  - This webinars will feature research from the Transit Cooperative Research Program (TCRP)’s Research Report 197: Tools for a Sustainable Transit Agency. This research explores the development of two tools for improving sustainability at transit agencies, the Sustainability Routemap and the S+ROI Calculator, which address transit sustainability through simplifying, translating, and implementing existing knowledge in new ways. These tools, available through downloading a .zip file, may help agencies create a successful sustainability program by developing performance measures, obtaining buy-in from leadership and staff, or applying a combination of methods. The presenters will describe the tools so that audience members are comfortable using them at their agencies.

Jun 12 - 13, 2018  National Highway Institute  NHI Course: Highway Program Funding  - This instructor-led training provides an overview of the Federal-aid Highway Program, focusing on various aspects of highway program funding unique to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). Topics include: the operation of the Highway Trust Fund and its significance to the funding level of the Federal-aid Highway Program; the content and policy implications of authorizing and appropriating legislation; the FHWA apportionment process; discussion of obligation limitation, allocations, deductions, earmarking, and transferability; and the effect of policy and budget considerations on the use of Federal-aid funds. The course has been updated to complement the new Federal-aid authorization bill.

Jun 18, 2018  National Academies  TRB Webinar: Nail it or Fail it: How to Build a Successful Mobility as a Service Story  - B will conduct a webinar on Monday, June 18, 2018 from 1:00 PM ET to 2:30 PM ET that discusses the state-of-the-practice of Mobility as a Service (MaaS) in Europe. MaaS is defined as a shift away from personally-owned modes of transportation and toward shared-use multimodal mobility. This mobility is enabled by combining transportation services from public and private transportation providers through a unified smartphone app that creates and manages the trip, which users can pay for with a single account. Presenters will describe successful MaaS case studies from Denmark and Finland and explain how the MaaS ecosystem works. They will also explore a pilot MaaS program at Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). This webinar will explore how MaaS can meet passenger needs, how MaaS can integrate public and private transportation, and how to connect a variety of transportation options through one mobile app.
