Summary

This report summarizes proceedings of a virtual peer exchange sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and hosted by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) on May 20 and 21, 2020. The purpose of the peer exchange was to discuss the experiences, successes, challenges, and lessons learned from three peer agencies (Georgia DOT, Minnesota DOT, and Washington State DOT) in support of FDOT and their efforts to implement both short- and long-term strategies to improve the effectiveness of managed lanes. FDOT seeks to utilize the outcomes of the peer exchange to reduce congestion on its existing managed lanes network on the I-95 Corridor known as 95 Express.
